Last updated [DATE]. How deposits are held, released, and refunded.
PurrTrust does not sell animals. Breeders are independent sellers. To reserve a kitten, a buyer pays a deposit through Stripe (by card, or free by bank transfer) after completing a live video check-in with the breeder.
After payment, the deposit is held for up to 48 hours while the buyer decides whether to confirm the match.
When the buyer confirms the match within the 48-hour window, the deposit is released to the breeder through Stripe Connect. Once released, the deposit is no longer held by us, and any refund is between the buyer and the breeder under the breeder's own policy.
If the buyer does not confirm within 48 hours, the deposit is automatically refunded to the original payment method. You don't need to request it. Card refunds usually appear within 5–10 business days, depending on your bank.
If something goes wrong while your deposit is held, such as a listing being removed or a suspected scam, contact us before the 48-hour window ends and do not confirm the match. If an automatic refund fails, we retry it and will contact you if we need more information.
Only payments made through PurrTrust checkout (deposits and final balances) are covered by this policy. A final balance is held until you confirm pickup; if you report a problem, it stays on hold until we review it. Card processing fees are refunded along with the payment. We cannot recover money sent by wire, Zelle, Venmo, gift cards, or crypto. If a breeder asks you to pay off-platform, please report it.
